Terms and Conditions
These terms are an agreement between you and Bitseal, LLC ("Bitseal," "we," "us," or "our"). They apply when you use bitseal.net and its tools (the "Services"). By creating an account or using the Services, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the Services.
1. Sealing is permanent
Read this part twice. When you seal a draft, it is written to a public blockchain. Sealed content can be seen by anyone, forever. It cannot be edited or deleted by you, by us, or by anyone else. Only seal what you are certain you want to be public and permanent.
Bitseal does not own or run Bitcoin or BitcoinSV, so we cannot reverse, change or remove a transaction once it is sent. A hash seal puts only a fingerprint of your draft on the chain, but that fingerprint is still public and permanent. Hash seals are private on Bitseal by default and appear only in your own archive. Inscriptions are always public.
2. What Bitseal is
- Bitseal is software that helps you keep drafts and seal them on a public blockchain using your own wallet.
- We do not hold your funds, keys or recovery phrase, and we cannot recover them. You sign and pay for every seal yourself.
- Network fees go to the blockchain network, not to us. They can change and are not refundable. Bitseal charges no fee of its own.
- A seal is evidence that content existed at a certain time. It is not legal advice, an official certification, or a guarantee of how any court or person will treat it.
3. Your account
- You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter a binding agreement.
- Give accurate information and keep your password private. You are responsible for what happens under your account.
- Your drafts are stored off-chain with us until you seal them. We do our best to protect them, but keep your own copies of anything important. We are not responsible for lost or damaged data.
4. What you may seal
Bitseal is for records worth preserving: writing, research, history, family stories and important documents. Because a seal can never be removed, hold yourself to a higher standard than for a normal post. You are responsible for everything you seal, and you promise that you own it or have the right to publish it. Not allowed:
- Sexual or pornographic content. Anything involving children in a sexual way is never allowed, and we will report it to the authorities.
- Hateful content, harassment, threats, and content that encourages violence, terrorism or self-harm.
- Content about another person without their consent, including private information such as home addresses, phone or ID numbers, bank details and medical records, and intimate or fake images of real people.
- Passwords, private keys or recovery phrases, yours or anyone else's.
- Pretending to be someone else, or forging records, documents or identities.
- Illegal activity, fraud, scams, stolen data, malware and phishing.
- Material that infringes someone else's copyright or trademark.
- Graphic violence, shock content, spam and junk, including filling the chain with meaningless data.
- False claims that could cause real harm, such as fake medical, legal or safety information.
A simple test: would I be comfortable if this stayed public with my name on it for the rest of my life, and is it fair to everyone it mentions? If not, don't seal it. This list is not complete. We decide in good faith what fits Bitseal, and we may change these rules over time.
5. How you may use Bitseal
Please don't use the Services for anything illegal, scrape or copy data in bulk, use bots or scripts to create accounts or post, get around security or limits, interfere with the site or other people's use of it, copy or reverse engineer the software, impersonate another person, sell or transfer your account, or send false reports.
6. What we can and can't do about content
We cannot remove anything from a blockchain. We can, with or without notice, hide or remove content from Bitseal's own pages, feeds and sharing tools; refuse to seal it if we see it before it is sent; suspend or permanently ban the account; and report it to the authorities and cooperate with valid legal requests. Serious violations, such as anything involving children, threats or illegal activity, can mean an immediate permanent ban and a report, without a warning. A banned person may not create a new account.
- Report content to safety@bitseal.net. We aim to respond within 2 business days. We can hide content from Bitseal, but we cannot erase it from the blockchain, which is why consent and care matter before sealing.
- Copyright complaints. If you believe something on Bitseal infringes your copyright, send a notice to our designated copyright agent: Bitseal, LLC, 2222 W. Grand River Ave., Ste A, Okemos, MI 48864, support@bitseal.net, 734-316-8670. Include what is infringed, where it appears, and how to reach you. We may hide it and may ban people who repeatedly infringe.
7. Ownership and your content
You keep ownership of your content. You give us permission to store, display and process your drafts and sealed records as needed to run the Services, including showing drafts and sealed records you chose to make public. A public draft is not sealed, so you can still change or delete it, and anyone who has seen it may have seen the earlier version. Bitseal, its software, design and logo belong to Bitseal, LLC. If you send us feedback or ideas, we may use them freely.
8. Third parties, and changes to the Services
Wallets, blockchains, block explorers, Nostr relays, X and other outside services are not run by us. They can change, fail or go offline, and their own terms apply. We are not responsible for them or for sites we link to. We may change, pause or stop all or part of Bitseal at any time, and it may be unavailable from time to time. Anything already sealed stays on the blockchain.
9. No warranty, and limit of liability
The Services are provided "as is" and "as available." We do not promise they will always work, be free of errors or be available at all times. Blockchain transactions can be delayed, fail, or be lost to user error, and you use the Services at your own risk. To the fullest extent the law allows, Bitseal is not liable for lost funds, lost data, or indirect or consequential damages, and our total liability to you is limited to $100.
10. Ending your account
You can stop using Bitseal at any time. We may suspend or permanently ban an account that breaks these terms. Anything already sealed on a blockchain stays there.
11. Disputes and governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Michigan, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Michigan.
12. General
These terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about the Services. If part of these terms cannot be enforced, the rest stays in force, and if we do not enforce something right away, that does not mean we give it up. We may transfer our rights to another company, for example in a sale or merger. We are not responsible for delays or failures outside our reasonable control. You agree that we may send you notices by email and by posting them on Bitseal.
We may update these terms. If we make an important change, we will post the new version here, update the date above, and may ask you to accept it again. Continuing to use the Services after a change means you accept it.
