Frequently asked questions
FAQ
Bitcoin or BitcoinSV?
Pick the one you trust and use. Bitseal works with both, and you sign with your own wallet.
Bitcoin (BTC) is the most secure and trusted. Putting full content on it costs much more, so it's best for short, important things, or for a small fingerprint.
BitcoinSV (BSV) holds big files for a tiny fraction of a cent. Great for photos and documents.
What are the four seal options?
BitcoinSV (inscription) writes your whole content onto BitcoinSV.
BitcoinSV (hash) writes only a tiny fingerprint of it onto BitcoinSV.
Bitcoin (inscription) writes your whole content onto Bitcoin.
Bitcoin (hash) writes only a tiny fingerprint of it onto Bitcoin.
Inscription or hash?
An inscription puts your whole content on-chain. It stands on its own and anyone can read it, even if you delete your copy. It costs more, especially for big files.
A hash stores just a tiny fingerprint. Cheaper, and it proves your content is the real thing without publishing it, but you have to keep the original.
Do I need a wallet?
Not to draft. Drafting is free. You only need a wallet when you seal on a blockchain: Unisat or Xverse for Bitcoin, Yours for BitcoinSV. New to crypto wallets?
Can I undo a seal?
No. Sealed means sealed, and not even we can change it. Edit or delete your drafts as much as you like before you seal.
Is my draft private?
Yes. Drafts stay in your account until you seal them, and only you can see them.
When you seal, it depends on the option. An inscription (BitcoinSV or Bitcoin) puts your content on a public blockchain, so it is always public on Bitseal too. A hash seal keeps your text off the blockchain, and it is private by default on Bitseal as well. You can choose to make it public if you want to show it.
A private record is visible only in your own archive. It never appears in the All feed or on the home page. Only public records, and records shared with you by name, are shown to other people.
What does it cost?
Just the network fee, paid from your own wallet. Bitseal adds nothing on top. Bigger content costs more, and a tiny fingerprint costs very little.
Which wallets work?
Unisat or Xverse for Bitcoin. Yours for BitcoinSV. You sign with your own wallet, and we never hold your keys or your money. Get them on the Learn page.
Can other people share my sealed records?
Yes, if the record is public. Anyone can share a public record to Nostr or X, and their post names you as the author. When you seal, you can untick "Allow others to share this" to turn that off. Private records can't be shared by anyone else.
Can I see what others sealed?
Yes! The All tab shows every public record, newest first. Tap any @username to see their archive.
